If I have an e-mail address with hot mail or yahoo that I've used very widely (for all sorts of personal/business contacts including registration of hundreds of domains) and now I'd like to have a personal E-mail (Example: [email protected]) how do I make the change so that its least cumbersome? Can I re-direct my current hotmail/yahoo mail to this new address? If so, how? Any other tips/suggestions?

I'd greatly appreciate any helpful input.

Yahoo and hotmail stoped forwarding a while back, but you can still read them with a mail client like outlook. Most experts prefer Edora and others over outlook - but any will do.

If you have never tried POP3 then you'll kick yourself for not useing it before.

Sorry, but no idea - I can only use POP3 when my wife is around to set it up for me :)

Acronym for "Post Office Protocol 3". basically standard email accessed and downloaded to a mail client on your local PC. The only two other protocols are web (like Yahoo and Hotmail) and IMAP which is a lesser used protocol where your mail is stored on a server computer and accessed via web. Acually this may be what Yahoo and Hotmail are.

BTW, you should immediately change the email contact on all your domains BEFORE you quit using the free email accounts.

Also, NEVER, use the email address of the same domain for it's own contact. If the domain has problems, you won't be able to get email to fix it or verify ownership. (i.e. [email protected] as contact for mydomain.com)

You can use Outlook Express to retrieve your POP Mail.
