I've been looking at the idea of using AI for domain name appraisal, combined with a large database of historical domain sales.

The interesting part is not simply asking AI, "What is this domain worth?" The real question is whether AI can analyze 1.5M+ historical domain sales and identify patterns that are difficult to see manually.

For example, an AI appraisal could potentially analyze:

• Comparable domain sales
• Keyword and search intent
• Domain length and memorability
• .com vs other extensions
• Industry/category
• Brandability
• Recent sales trends
• Similar words and combinations
• Historical prices of comparable domains
• AI-related demand and emerging terminology

DNScroll is particularly interesting for this because it provides domain sales data and historical market information. Recent sales also show how wide the market can be — for example, orchestra.ai sold for $250,000, perform.ai for $200,000, and router.ai for $80,000.

Of course, I don't think an AI appraisal should be treated as a guaranteed selling price. A domain can be worth very different amounts to different end users.

But with a sufficiently large sales dataset, AI could potentially provide a much more data-driven valuation range instead of relying mainly on subjective opinions.

AI isn't going to catch a trending term or phrase for instance.

Unless you have it constantly updated on news.

It might work somewhat but not upcoming keywords… only terms that are already popular.
