News Corp. looking to buy realestate.com.au for $90 Mil

I was reading the article about News Corp. possibly buying SE Blinkx for about $2 Bil, and noticed that they are also trying to buy realestate.com.au for $90 Mil.

Real Estate related sites seem to be getting more interest lately.

With News Corp. in the mix, the search engine wars could get really interesting. On real estate domains in general, they've helped spark more interest in the internet which is a perfect medium for home sellers/buyers.

Today 1 wk. Avg. 3 mos. Avg. 3 mos. Change
-- -- 2,890,490 down 554,743

With only 2804 on Overture last month for the term Renters. By contrast RENT throws up 241,279, whilst the dot com is ranked 1033 at Alexa and is rising. I would have to say that I feel the 500K, if genuine, was a very generous offer!

Sucked in again. LOL

Actually, it is a nice domain and I reckon that rent.com is probably worth about $50 Million. By contrast for renters.com to reach its full potential will require significant Marketing and Branding. Ultimately though, it could reach the 500K level, but only after a significant amount of money has been spent on it!
