Huh... that's odd. My experience up to now has been that SnapBack slot = NRR slot (at least on some level). I could see some inherent problems with that formula given the distinction between the expected results of a successful subscription, but that has been the assumption.

Recently, I've had a client tell me they've "back-ordered" a name through Network Solutions (NextRegistrationRights - NRR), after I'd checked the SnapBack and found it was available. I went and checked NextRegistrationRights.com, and sure enough, the name came back as "unavailable" through the NRR system (still available via SnapNames).

Double-checked the system with a name no one would register, and that showed as "available" at both. Checked two names I had SnapBacks on... ONE showed as "available", the other did not (via NRR's checker).

Now, in the past, I've placed a SnapBack at SnapNames and SEEN the NRR back-order slot get taken (become instantly "unavailable" during that same moment). I've also done this at Snaps.com (a SnapNames affiliate). I've also placed NRR and SEEN the SnapBack get taken. Has all of this fallen apart now? Is Network Solutions' NRR system going to run completely independant of SnapNames now? If so... that's a little annoying. Would mean that someone got the NRR slot on at least one of my names, when I wouldn't have hesitated to pick that up months ago.

Anyone else see anything odd? I feel damned for never having asked a Network Solutions rep a straight question on this relationship (if for no other reason than to have a mistatement to hold someone to).

Had I thought, I wonder if this has anything to do with:
#1.) Sale of Network Solutions
#2.) Indeterminate delay of WLS

Taken together (not necessarily apart), its not clear why Pivotal Private Equity should inherit the same close relationship with SnapNames regarding the pending wait listing system. Maybe someone flipped an "unlinking switch"? Considering that NRR is not charging unless successful (pre-order status), they've nothing to lose either way it would seem).
