Well, it might work if an english person is looking for lyrics and you have a site optimized(quality, content relevant, one way inbound links & lots of relevant content) for the keyword "lyrics" in google.
I mean since google don't give a shit what the extension is, all things being equal, you should be able to get it in the top ten for "lyrics" considering a few of the top ten sites don't even have the word lyrics in their url. Just takes a year or 2 of very hard, diligent work.
