There's a computer model that shows Nicole travelling from Cuba past Ireland and the UK in 12 hours.

That's right, that's about 4400 miles (probabaly more like 4600) in 12 hours. This means she'll travel about 370 miles per hour.

So, add in her wind speeds and you're looking at winds over 400 MpH. That's what, a category 12 or 13 hurricane?

We're going to have a hurricane? When is it due, or has it passed over already? We still remember Hurricane Charlie over here, but I suppose we're lucky we don't get too many more.

Edit: Hmmm, just see this is in the humour section. So nothing to worry about then. :)

Nocole is still over Cuba / the FL Straights but she's only going to be a tropical storm.

The joke was that the model was wrong and showed her travelling at about 450 milles per hour.

Our street was flooded just once when I was young. Sandbags in the luckily narrow opening saved the three houses in our terrace, but an underground river complete with tadpoles appeared in the kitchen, and there were little frogs hopping around among the crockery and drying clothes for weeks afterwards. I feel so sorry for those poor people in Pakistan, who have little enough as it is.

Embarrassing to get a model wrong. Speaking of which, did anyone see this morning's story about the Australian model being told she'd won a competition and then immediately being downgraded to second? Horrible for the presenter and most of all for the poor girl, although I must say she took it beautifully.

I saw that, the host was the one that was the most upset.

Yes, she was. At least they gave the true second girl money and the trip to New York anyway. And she's probably more famous than any other second has ever been. Still, I'm not sure how good it is for a presenter's career, even if it wasn't her fault (seems she was given the winning order and told to wait in case it changed but heard nothing after that).
