why??

It sort of gets annoying..

If we need to keep it for whatever reasons lets make it less bold and so it blends with the design..

- 2 cents -

Makes a few people look the same....

Personally i dont think people should be able to use the same avatar at all let alone a standard "No Avatar" one.....

I don't like it either, though if the purpose is to encourage people to eventually get an avator rather then have none, it is sort of working as now I am thinking I will prefer to go find something to use rather then being 'no avator' as an avator.

i thought it was initially a joke. You know, kind of ironic like "This page intentionally left blank."

I agree that avatars should be unique without one being exactly the same. The default avatars in my opinion should be removed.

hmmm... so the avatar is a placemark for people that have no avatar... This makes some sense as opposed to having nothing there. I'm receonsidering my previous statement.

How about making the "no avatar" avatar grey, so it blends into the background. I find it distratcting... I've come to recognize people by their avatars... especially people with good, creative, and distinctive avatars like nametower, gd, hal, howard, gt web, classicnames, jberryhill, et al.

I also use the avatars for a visual cue as to which posts I should bother reading.

If I wanted an avatar ... I'd put one there. Don't force people to have something they don't want.

It's actually kind of redundant. An avatar that says it's "no avatar". There IS an avatar, it's just not a custom avatar.

I agree, sometimes I don't really even look at the name, I know who posted by the avatar at quick glance (or at least I thought I did).

totally agree with AdoptableDomains

the avatar is what i look for before the name... like lopramine45s penguin, i ignored everyone whith that one, then relaised its one of the free ones!!
and not just his/hers/

but on a serious note i thnk everyone should have sheds... but spinning at slighly different angles.

I think those in the northern hemisphere should spin counterclockwise and those in the southern hemsiphere spin clockwise.

Hmm, it's now getting annoying - especially when looking through a thread and several posters have it, makes you think that one member is saying something when he/she isn't. Like others I think the avatar is a personal "mark" and by it I identify others at first glance.
My vote says get rid of it.

Agree with most of the above comments.

I don't like having a "no avatar" avatar.
