Anyone else noticed that this forum is for Offers and not Auctions? You can't take "bids" eBay style.

Fine line. A "bid" is just another name for a "public offer". Semantics, really.

So we have separate forums for the purpose of entertaining semantics?

So we have separate forums for the purpose of entertaining semantics?

Basically.

Most "offers" threads either a) request private offers, or b) do not have a hard deadline. If an thread requesting offers DOES allow for BOTH public offers and strict deadlines, it has basically become an auction. However are these public offers based on a strict deadline any less offers than private offers, or ones for which no deadline exists?

In other words, an bid is a specific type of offer. Therefore, an "auction" forum is basically a subset of an "offers" forum.

That's my take anyway. Mods/admins may certainly disagree.
