If you are operating as a sole proprietorship, in addition to privacy and limiting your liability, forming an LLC or forming a corporation can save you 15% of your distribution income, by electing to be treated as an S corporation with the IRS when paying your taxes. So if you make 100K a year as a DBA or sole proprietor, that gets put on your personal income. But if you make 100K with an LLC treated as an S corporation, you could take a substantial chunk of that as a distribution and save 15%.
