WHOIS shows a creation date of 2003, why do you say 1998?

What you meant to really say was:

The domain existed in 1998, expired and was re-registered in 2003.

"Online since" indicates a continuum, which is not the case here.

Give him a break. Its a great domain. If you want to get technical yes it was "registered" in 1998 but not online since 1998 which he did clear up himself before your post.

topfetch, I didn't criticize the domain. The statement "Online since" indicates continuity in registration. Because I am always interested in domains with old registration dates, when I WHOIS'ed it, it came up registered in 2003. When a domain drops and gets re-registered there is no point in claiming its registration date is the former date - the new one counts.

Good luck with the sale.

no problem acroplex I dont usually care for the registration date and didnt realize there are people who do buy based on that. For me if it was first registered in 98 then dropped and picked up in 2003 it would still be considered a 1998 domain but thats just me.

My whole point though was that he did clear himself up before you replied when he said "I got it on 2003 but it was first online in 1998"

Anyway, lets not ruin his thread and keep this a "sales thread" like it should be.

"First online" is not the same as "Online since".

I understand his first language is not English and such differences might be subtle, however not everyone is sharp-eyed or experienced enough to notice that an Alexa link might contain expired information.

Acroplex why I have a feeling that your post is not to keep those who havent a shap eye or experienced enough...
If you look I post my thread with :

.

And you post whois details without checking that it was first online in 1998.
Give me a break and if you want to help members here , dont make other members here a sale loss.

Alright HotDN, please answer me this:

I have a domain that was first registered in 1989 - one of the first 180 .coms.

It used to be online for a few years. Then it expired, it dropped and I re-registered it in 2003.

If I put a post saying "Online since 1989" would that be laughable?

It's a rhetorical question. Again, I am not criticizing your domain's worth. But my friend, it sure as hell ISN'T online "since" 1998.
