the NAR is very aggressive defending their trademarks, they somehow managed to get a TM for the word Realtor, which I think is fishy and I would hope someone would take them to court over it, but very few people have the $$$$$ to fight a lawsuit, I think some things are not right there, the way they got this trademark and how they defend it.. they dont allow anything with the word realtor in it, its a big lobby with deep pockets, but maybe a california jury would decide in your favor..

most definite tm issues ... NAR is a pain in the butt when it comes to domains, however being a realtor in ohio i believe i could use and defend the domain

As a Florida Realtor(R) and Consultant, I agree with the TM issue. The NAR (National Association of Realtors(r)) has a trademark on the word Realtor(R). Shame on you, forumrating, for saying there is no TM issue. If you don't KNOW ...

I also agree with NameWaiter - as a Realtor(R) in the state of Ohio he should be able to buy and use this domain. This is a delicate matter - one best solved behind closed doors. Jaik has a name that he could lose to TM issues, if pressed. The name is easily worth x,xxx to low xx,xxx to an Ohio Realtor(R) end user.

The value obviously lies in putting it into the hands of an Ohio Realtor. It won't get any traffic on it's own, so it likely won't attract attention from the National Association of Realtors...or NAR.

If someone who is a Realtor acquired the name off of you then it would be up to them to make sure they were on safe ground with the organization. You are essentially at zero risk for a UDRP. If you happen to get one then just give it up and don't spend more than three minutes on it.

That's where you stand, so Google yourself a list of Ohio Realtors, send out some emails letting them know it is available, and see if you can pick up a few bucks.

Understand that most people in the real estate business are very up-to-date on the workings of the Intenet, and they might not be interested in anything other than dotcom.

TM issues. NAR has already won the TM battle in court over thousands of realtor names. Also, I believe the last time I looked, the NAR restricted the TM even with their own members as far as location goes. Can't use Locationrealtor. Can use companynamerealtor if a member though. Sending out notices to the Ohio realtors will get them forwarded to the NAR within the hour I'm sure.

Use realty, real estate, etc.

The NAR has a trademark on "Realty(R)" also. In my experience, they (the NAR) is even more vigorous in protecting that term than "Realtor(R)".

I do agree that an email to Ohio Realtors(R) would arouse the NAR fairly quickly.

I would also be surprised if OhioRealtor.us does not get some type in traffic - it is pretty intuitive.
