closed on eBay now - should I have put a reserve bid on this name?

I'm listing a Celebrity Name on eBay and was wondering about whether or not I should put a Reserve on the name.

I would suggest putting a reserve in really high and you can always sell to the highest bidder even though the reserve was not met. Start the bidding lower. More people will see it becuase they often sort by price.

Also, put your name in 2 categories.
I put mine in the 'domains' category and the 'websites for sale' category.

I think not. BUt you can still raise the opening bid; there are no bids on it yet (if you think you will lose money at this level).
imo, high reserves or reserves period for that matter turn ppl off - but thats just me...

You do have a reserve. it's $250.00. Only diff is people can see it.

And if you do get a bid at all, especially considering the minimum bid, take the money and run. Celebrity names should be avoided, especially ones with little modern public interest. It's not worth getting into a dispute over a name for the actor who was the father on the Brady Bunch, for crying out loud.

I don't think they would be much of a dispute considering he has been dead for 10 years:dead:

Jimi Hendrix has been dead for 30 years but try putting a site up with his name in it. His estate (usually his living relatives) would make mince meat out of you. The rights to a celebrities name do not become public domain hust because the celebrity dies.

If you can get $250 from this name on Ebay you should be delighted (I don't think it will happen though). If lightning struck, I would transfer it immediately so the buyer can take on the TM headache.

Is the Hendrix family did not want to have JimiHendrix.com instead of bithing they could just buy it. $5000 is worth about $.50 cents to them.

Wouldn't cost them $5,000. All they have to do is file a UDRP and it will be handed over to them. They have an unassailable trademark on the name.

as long as it is a fan base site i think you can.If i remember right i think someone from his estate or someone bought that name for 10 thousand dollars a few years ago because i remember hearing about it
