Ever wanted to run your own domain registry? Well now you can with org.cg
While technically anything under .org.cg would be a subdomain, to most people it appears the same as any other country that uses .org.ccTLD.
Some similar domains:
.org.uk - UK - over 500,000 domains active in this TLD
.org.au - Australia
.org.nz - New Zealand
.org.br - Brazil
.org.ar - Argentina
.org.co - Columbia
.org.il - Israel
+ many more
.cg is the Republic of Congo, a country with 4.3 million people, ranking relatively high in term of GDP per capita in the continent and with a large amount of, as of yet untapped, mineral resources including gold.
But this isn't just for the local market.
.CO.NR is a really popular domain name, google finds 484,000 sites when you search for site:.co.nr, which uses the same technique as here of a private company owning the domain co.nr and giving away subdomains. What a great way of building an email list which you could then use to sell hosting! If I don't get a good enough offer this is the route I will be taking with this domain.
Alternatively you could sell domains like .co.no, .us.com etc do.
The domain has almost a full year left before renewal. Renewal costs Euro225 per annum.
