Our Spanish Mobi names: Good, Bad, or Ugly?

Hello Everyone,

We have now a total of of 123 Spanish Mobi names. We were able to register some ourselves and we bought some from others. We have spent some good dollars on them as we obviously believe that .mobi will be ok especially if you have popular English/Spanish words. We have some English ones too but bought heavily in Spanish because dot-mobi registry did not reserve too many Spanish dictionary words like they did in English. Also 400 million people speak Spanish in 22 countries.

I am inviting your comments on our collection. Just say what you want to say: good, bad, or ugly.

Some domains we acquired have a very relevant use for the mobi extension while the other we think will be great for companies who want to build their brand value and have bragging rights. For example, If (note IF) mobi takes of, then domains like [cigarrillos.mobi (cigarettes)] can be great for companies making these products.....it will give them a mega 'billboard' on the wireless internet that can make their brand synonymous with that product while beating their rivals at the same time.....domains as this can just be used to build brand awareness by simply displaying their product to people who come to the site....its like purchasing thousands of billboards or tv advertisements or newspaper ads in the real world. It can save a lot of money for these companies while providing them an effective and inexpensive medium of advertising forever.

I have also invested in mobi domains...

I can say that there are many that I like and others that I would never think to register. But...as you know...many sell those also...that happened to me...

Anyway...great collection (I have coleccion.mobi lol)..

Market is pretty good given the interest of people and also other Spanish mobi sales.

I am, however, keeping them long term and not actively selling.

Nice list of names. I think it will take a little longer for the spanish .mobi market to mature as compared to english generics, but you should do well with those. I have PornGratis.mobi I'm hoping it will get some interest eventually too.

But maybe its good! But recommend you go to the spanish-side. If i were to tell you about my Japanese domains; ima.mobi (now) , iku.mobi (go), doko.mobi (where)...etc... could you tell me if they were going to be successful? Only i would know. :cheesy:

All the domains above (except 1 which I registered unknowingly) are using regular Alphanumeric characters.

I have stayed away from any accent/special/idn type of character.

In fact I let many good ones go out of my hand because they had those special Spanish accent characters.

I see many people registering Spanish names by replacing those accent letters with English ones which I think is really a typo/misspelled domain then. Not only that, people are selling those misspelled ones as Spanish domains

Not that I know of!

I belive in STAYING AWAY FROM ALL KIND OF "IDNs" until ICANN comes up with TRUE IDNs (with IDN extnsion , not com/net etc) it is working on.

There is a more chance that you can LOSE ALL YOUR INVESTMENT IF YOU BUY IDNs.
