It's a good domain but I'm surprised with the amount, and also with Science.tv, Ebay is just not the place to sell 5 star domains, and this one of them. The auctions with reserve not met, draws into question whether shill bidding is taking place, all it takes a 2 or 3 ebay accounts to drive it up.

I can assure that one of the bids is real ....... ( dollardomains )
but my bid is depending on a return of revenue screenshots etc ..
If good .. it fits into my niche well...

Looking at the bid history, the last 5 bidders have positive feedback at 99.5% or above.

Perhaps the P2P auction is on the up and up, it's a nice domain, I'm just stating the possibilities, personally I know of 12 friends that have ebay accounts and all have great feedback, not too difficult to ask 5 of them to bid on my auction...not that I've done that before!

I'm sure shill bidding happens all the time on ebay, but I think this domain is worthy of the price.

What industry are you referring to?

Good question indeed.

P2P (or the interest in it) so far has mainly been about *free* file sharing.

Itunes for instance which indeed is a success for Apple is not really P2P by definition or "tradition".

Still i can imagine a music giant like Sony, Warner or BMG to want that domain to potentially build a commercial P2P platform as the record labels have just begun to take pro-active action in terms of alternatives to free filesharing.

Or maybe the traffic is simply so high the price would even be justified when all you do is PPC the name but i doubt it...:)

Over the next couple of days you'll see 20-50 P2P domains for appraisal :frusty:

Of course most won't be worth reg fee's..... But of course "my" P2P domains are best :becky:

It is a great name of couse, but $40000+ for a LNL.com is a bit too much.

Right now it is at $50,100 which seems cheap considering that it appears the owner may have rejected a $125,000 offer in 2002. See below:

http://www.dnforum.com/showthread.php?t=7209&highlight=p2p.com

I just emailed the REAL owner of P2P.com asking him ([email protected]) if the domain name P2P.com was for sale. This is Dan's response:

Good luck. We've had an offer for $125,000 plus 450,000 Shares of Common Stock in a venture, after reviewing the offer, we turned it down. Unless you're a serious "player", I don't think you'll have much luck.

Yours,
Jim Devine, Owner
Port to Print, Inc.

According to whois, it looks like that this name was sold in May of this year to the current owner. Anyone know of a sale on this name around that time?

In the early part of May month of this year, it was owned by an Albert from Florida. Not it's owned by Dan Louvado from New Jersey. You would think that you would have heard of a sale on this name in May. I'm assuming it was a private sale.

This name is like a hot potato. It's had 4 (soon to be 5) owners in approx 3 years.

The auction has passed $60k. Getting interesting.

In 2002 the owners email address was dan @ p2p and now it is being sold by Dan. Therefore are you sure that this name has had different owners over the last few years ??

The owner claims that domain is making $1000 a month in parking.
I personally very doubt of it. It has overture 149 with extention and 32.000 without.
Any thoughts?

Maybe $1000 p/m is possible. PPC for file sharing at sedo seems high at around 0.50 euros per click.

I would guess that p2p.com gets about 5,000 uv's per month which may equal 60,000 'hits' as claimed on ebay. 60.000 uv's would be a bit high imo.
