Those of you who sell domains here, what payment methods do you normally use to protect both parties?

Do you use Escrow?

use escrow for deals worth more than $1k and paypal for small deals.

For paypal, do you ask the person to pay first or do you do the transfer first?

Yes payment first
but keep in mind that the payment can be reversed (charged back) later with paypal too. It's best to KYC (know your customer), check if paypal-verified and be careful of larger transactions with people with no history or trader rating.
For small deals paypal is fine, for larger amounts escrow is a must

Yes, a reversal happened to me once with an ebay transaction. Since it didn't get reflected until nearly a couple of months later, by then it became too late to do anything about it.

I've used escrow.com a few times now and the process has been quite smooth, with payment received relatively fast.
