I have my eye on a domain that has expired on Sept. 25, 2005. It is now in the Pending Renewal/Delete status. When will this domain be deleted (assuming it's not renewed)? As far as I know it's 45 days, but I may be wrong, can someone comfirm. Thanks.

If the status is PENDING-DELETE it's 5 days from the day it entered this status. Normally the name must have been in REDEMPTION PERIOD before.
To find out when it entered PENDING-DELETE status check the 'last updated date/time 'record if you see it or check the name here to see when it's expected to drop:

I can't find out anything about last change or anymore about the status, since the whois records are hidden. I can only see the whois of the domain at itsyourdomain.com (where it was registered), and their whois dosn't show much.

You're slightly right. To be exact, registrars are now obligated to give a grace
period between 0 or 1 to 45 days.

I just checked IYD's legal fine prints and there doesn't seem to be any grace
period. So assuming IYD deletes the domain after it expires, it'll switch to the
Redemption Period (for com/net) or Pending Delete - Restorable (org/info/biz)
phases.

(Speaking of which, I'll see if my contact is still there to clarify that...)

After redemption, it's 5 days Pending Delete. Then it'll be released on the 6th
day.

When a domain's deleted, at the very least it'll show its last updated date,
sponsoring registrar, and status or phase like I mentioned earlier. Depending
on the domain's extension, what do the 3 show?

use our site at http://www.tektips.us and do a registry whois for the domain name, usually the pending-delete status is put on for domains in day 70-75 after the expiration date. i would do a backorder at a couple of different registrars to catch the drop

Here's the whois I could get, from IYD, no other whois service would work:

Domain: ------.com

Registrant
Pending Renewal or Deletion

------------
------------
+1.---------
+1.---------

Administrative
Pending Renewal or Deletion
[email protected]
-------------
-------------

Billing

+1.-----------

Technical
Pending Renewal or Deletion

--------------

+1.-----------
+1.-----------

Record created on September 25, 2004
Record last updated on September 01, 2005
Record expires on September 25, 2005
I censored out the addresses and the domain. I could get "REGISTRAR-LOCK" from another whois service though. Can someone give me a rough estimate when this will drop?

To me it looks like the name is in redemption period actually, and not yet in pending-delete...

domains are in redemption in day 40 through 70 after it's expiration date, depending on the registrar, those people can redeem it with the registry and pay the hefty redemption fee, you have a good wait if it expired on 9/25
