People selling domains on craigslist.com now

woah am I the only one here who never tried to sell domains on craigslist.

Do you guys ever see any decent sites for sale there, with significant revenue and all? I'd assume quality stuff if fairly rare there

TBH, all I have seen locally is people who buy really bad domains, set it up with the standard Wordpress themes and then try to sell a "business" behind them for several thousand dollars. When in reality it took them 5 minutes and less than $10 to start it all up.

Not worth the time for domain names.....

However I did sell my Dodge Ram on Craigslist within two hours of posting.

Adam, the title should be people now "listing" domains on craigslist.com not "Selling"
I've seen names listed on CL for years but I don't think many sell....

Interesting! I just post one see how it goes, again thanks much Adam for the info.
But the price which set there was quite outrageous and unreasonable.

I for one have successfully sold domains (2) for 4 figures each via a local (Toronto) BST (buy/sell/trade) forum.

For only $3,000 one could, if not a scam, buy a call girl site in Canada and become a pimp.

But on a more serious note, I have found free Craiglist good for selling large local items that one would not want to ship.

Expensive eBay does give the advantage of a large worldwide market - but sometimes one is hard to find in the large market. I think there are tens of thousands of domain names on eBay at any one time.

LMAO Become a PIMP. Something is really wrong with this.

Why not sell on craigslist..

It may not be worth the time as someone above noted.

But inspired by this tread, I figured I had nothing better to do while watching a 30-minute TV show.

I put up my ad for Shrewd.com on Craigslist but someone flagged it after a day: "Your posting has been flagged for removal."

Craigslist relies on the public to flag posts that look like scams, which as someone above noted, many domain name sales are $10 Wordpress sites being sold as "businesses."

But looking on the bright side, I guess someone is actually reading the listings, so I rewrote the ad to make it clearer and reposted.

Added domain name for sale on Craiglist and one later I had a spam email from Nigeria offering me 5 times my asking price and asking to send the "item" to Nigeria!Hate those scammers!
WatchForScam.com - very food name to develop regarding the amount of scams going around!

Have made a couple small sales to local businesses via CL. only a couple ove r the years through eBay. eB is too saturated it seems to me...

May I know which forum you post.

It's RedFlagDeals. Weird enough, both domains were picked up by buyers in CHINA. It's a long story, but that forum has quite a following among second generation Chinese Canadians esp. in Toronto (because the former owner is of Chinese descent); that is also why I decided to post those China-related domains for sale there, hoping their Chinese connection would help. I used to post there, until it's obvious their mod team knowingly turns a blind eye to blatant racially motivated trolling.

At the end of the day, there is gonna be more endusers on craigslist rather than here where it seems all your'e gonna get is lowball offers, this place is good if you are desperate for cash and want to sell domains at rock bottom prices or of course buy...

I've been looking at Craigslist for a while. Try this search in google for more streamlined results: site:craigslist.org "domain name" "2011-12-14" -hosting
Obviously change the date as needed. Add more words you don't want to see with a - (minus)

Also, instead of "domain name" try:
"website for sale"
"Domaine"
"Business for sale"
And whatever else you can imagine.

I've actually found a few good deals of end users selling their sites after their businesses closed with excellent domains.

Thx Anthony for the info, when you mention buy/sell forum, first thing that come up my mind is actually redtag. For Chinese Canadian, perhaps numberic and pinyin domains would be definite an asset. Somehow .ca perhaps not a big market for Chinese Canadian.
I post some on Kijiji, and never receive any response. Anyhow I still gotta congrat you on the sale.
