Hello,

In light of their new typosquatting activities, I've started a petition at:

http://www.whois.sc/verisign-dns/

I'd appreciate it if you can take a moment and sign it, and spread the word on other mailing lists and forums.

Sincerely,

George

Edited to show new location of petition.

Great initiative George! Just signed up and would strongly recommend that everyone do the same.

We have to stop this madness by Verisign before its too late!

Good idea ; If you want to use stopsitefinder.com (free ofcourse) for this petition - feel free to PM me.

Good going George. I signed it.

Signed it as well.

I'm printing out the first 10,500 signatures (300 pages!) and will FedEx it to ICANN. :) It's still going strong, though (11,000+ last I peeked).

Great move!

My 'signature' note:

Verisign/NetworkSolutions is singularly the worst registrar in the business even though they were the first and still control the two most popular domain extensions. There 'WhoIs' data is often a mess. A few months ago they screwed up all of the domain registration start dates and they are seemingly the most likely to 'loose your domain' registrar of all time. They also seem to be about ready to start the WLS service (a bad idea for many reasons but that's another isssue) on there own (well, probably not quite but they sure are itching and taking peoples money too). Why should we be surprised about this? ICANN, do yourself a serious favor at the next administrator renewal time; find a new and better (it really won't be too hard) administrator!

I think we got Slashdotted -- original petition site is only showing 178 signatures, instead of 16,000+ ! We've moved it to a new site, thanks to some amazingly quick programming by WHOIS.SC.

Site is now at:

http://www.whois.sc/verisign-dns/

I also made an announcement at:

http://gnso.icann.org/mailing-lists/archives/ga/msg00399.html

and presented the first 10,000 comments to ICANN formally (including printouts, sent by FedEx -- 300 pages!) at:

http://gnso.icann.org/mailing-lists/archives/ga/msg00400.html

nice one - keep going George

I will host a mirror if you need it

10,625 signatures so far

Good luck George.
