How much could our Phones.net be worth ?
But still better: anyone know a good affiliate program to earn easy money with it ?
Yes, low traffic but we could easily advertise it ;-)

Wow nice name, .com and .org names have a snap on. How did You get it?

No secret, a collaborator registered it for me ... but, how remains a mystery for me too ;-)
I admit, I paid an high but reasonable price for it.

It's a great domain - but can you also ask your "collaborator" to get you the dot com to.

You should get your 10k for it.

So now you can understand why he'll never sell it ;-)

Thanks to everybody for your appraisals and opinions.

Phones.com has an alexa ranking of 637,000.

Using a fairly accurate chart I've contributed to at

http://www.sillyjokes.co.uk/alexa/index.php

that turns into about 50/day uniques, or 1500/month.

All of that has to be direct typein, which usually converts very well. If I put a decent affiliate program on there, (especially cell phones) I could probably make about $30/sale, which would come to about $16K/year just off the traffic and using a single aff pgm with an "average" CR.

If, on the other hand, a cell phone company used it, where they could get $ from recurring fees, that number would jump at least 10 fold. So phones.com is worth $32K to $320K depending on who buys it.

Knowing this, I can say phones.net is worth $3.2K to 32K, depending on who your buyer is.

disclaimers: yes, I know Alexa is not the best ranking system, as it distorts the highs & lows and tends to squish everyone in the middle. Yes, I know, the typeins for .net are less than 10% of .com's. But it's better than pulling the numbers out of thin air.

Ah, how I do miss the early pioneer methods of evaluting domain names!!

btw: Phones.net would be one helluva a name if you branded it as is: "Phones.net" ---as in in the "net".

compared with "Phones.com" which sounds like Pets.com. Another failed dot com.

Granted the Phones.com name is worth more than Phones.net as is, but from a branding perspective, "Phones.net" has some room to move up...unlike other "net" domains.

My advice is to wait to sell this name when the next tech boom hits. (buy low - sell high)

very good name. can possibly fetch around 8k-10k easy.
Good Luck !
