If the man is dead, I doubt there won't be any legal problems. Unless his family makes the claim.

i thought his name was in the public domain, since he was a famous u.s. senator who lived from 1782 to 1852, although a number of different institutions are named after him.

You could be right. However, a lawyer's opinion is always the best way to go to be sure. Do you know the type in traffic the domain generates?

i remember him from my U.S. history class...doubt anyone will buy it though...your only hope is to find a very wealthy historian (specializing in early colonial America) Good Luck!

i just got this name today without a website. the google ad tool estimates 600 searches a day for this name. the overture tool shows 1527 searches for "daniel webster" during the month of june.

i know these aren't scientific, but it's all the data i have for now.

Fifteen hundred Overtures, but making much if any money from a site based around a non-gargantuan historical figure may be tricky. So $100-$200 to the right buyer would be my guess.
