I have been watching a .COM I would really like to get, it was set to expire at the end of May, but has not dropped.

WHOIS shows:
Registrar: NETWORK SOLUTIONS, LLC.
Whois Server: whois.networksolutions.com
Referral URL: http://www.networksolutions.com
Name Server: NS1.PENDINGRENEWALDELETION.COM
Name Server: NS2.PENDINGRENEWALDELETION.COM
Status: pendingDelete
Updated Date: 31-jul-2007
Creation Date: 25-may-2000
Expiration Date: 25-may-2007

It should have dropped already! why are they holding it??? I placed a backorder on snapnames but the release date says "N/A"...

Maybe my back order alerted them and now they are keeping it???

so whats happening here? this seems very fishy...

When a domain expires Netsol will send it to Snap 35-36 days later if someone has backordered it. If not it will be dropped and that particular name is in pending-delete. it should be available within 5 days.

Thanks for the feedback guys, catched the domain yesterday!

When a domain expires Netsol will send it to Snap 35-36 days later if someone has backordered it. If not it will be dropped and that particular name is in pending-delete. it should be available within 5 days.

So do you mean that if nobody had backordered at Snap, it would have dropped sooner?

I had this backordered at Snapnames a while ago...

here's the previous WHOIS:

Registrar: NETWORK SOLUTIONS, LLC.
Whois Server: whois.networksolutions.com
Referral URL: http://www.networksolutions.com
Name Server: NS1.PENDINGRENEWALDELETION.COM
Name Server: NS2.PENDINGRENEWALDELETION.COM
Status: redemptionPeriod
Updated Date: 30-jun-2007
Creation Date: 25-may-2000
Expiration Date: 25-may-2007

Lets see if I'm understanding this...
domain expired may 25th... (and it is put on-hold?)
36 days later status changes to "redemption period" (30-jun)
"redemption period" lasts 31 days, ends 31-Jul
countdown to deletion starts on that same day (31-Jul)
6 days later domains drops... (Snapnames transfered to me on August 6th)

Thats about 73 days after expiration!

So basic question... will there always be a 36 days "after expiration" period? (before redemption period starts, how do you call this period?)
And will the 31 day redemption period always follow it?

I've heard that some registrars seem to have slightly different timings, so it gets a bit confusing for me... How do you guys figure out the exact drop date?

there will always be 30 days redemption grace period, and 6 days pending delete. Sometime there are registrar hold, about 35-40 days after expiration date.
