Hello,

I am considering purchasing the domain name neo-geo(dot)net and would like an appraisal.

The domain has been registered in 2002 apparently, and is still good for 5 more years. Owner says she has no traffic stats since she never touched the domain since registry.

In case you don't know, the neo-geo is a classic arcade and home gaming system. Main TLDs seem to be taken.

I have no experience with domain values, so please advice on how much you think it's worth. Thanks

In order to get an appraisal you need to be the owner of the domain. Anyways .. Neo-Geo is so old that is has no longer a commercial value. The only use I could see for owning Neo-Geo.net is to start a forum or emulation/mame site for personal entertainment purposes.

I don't see any reseller value in it. Check if it has some good backlinks maybe

Thanks for the replies so far. I wasn't aware that I have to own the domain name to get an appraisal. Still new to this whole thing so please cope with me. If it makes any difference I have consulted with the owner of the domain about getting it appraised unprofessionally before pulling the plug and she didn't mind.

Since the name was never developed or advertised, there are no backlinks.

I can see why the resell value might not be there, but I think it has decent development potential, I just hope I will have the time to work on it.

Think it'll be worth spending $40 on it and parking to see if maybe it gets any type in traffic and a little revenue?

If it has never been developed, I can tell you 99% sure that it will not get any type in traffic. Perhaps 1-2 each month. NeoGeo.com might get some, even Neo-Geo.com . Maybe NeoGeo.net would get a few, but not Neo-Geo.net . To be honest, I would spend those $40 on a more profitable domain.
