I have a domain name registered with a registrar called net benefit and I would like to hide my who is details from the public.
The registrar says that it cannot do that for .com's.

Is this true?

Apart from changing registrars (as this would lose SEO value on my website) is there any way I can do this?

If your current registrar said it is not possible to add Whois Protect on your domain, it's time for you to move out your domain name. This is a add-on feature to protect your privacy.
