Haven't asked, my guess is that the offer was based on that protection in any form is one of the largest industries off/online. And i'm sorry to say i guess it will grow. This is the perfect domain for any protection service that want to brand itself as a protection network instead of a commercial protection service.
Regarding traffic, this is a .net domain so i guess there is not alot of type-ins. No revenue at the moment, this domain has been parked since 1997 and has no bad history.

if you really have a bid of 53k than you should sell the name asap. The price of the domain names is very subjective because all of them are different and
only theoretical comparisons can be made. If you claim you received an offer of 53k that means you are going to sell this name for a lot more than most of the end-users will pay for undeveloped domain name without traffic. Prices like that we can see only on auctions, and it happens very rare.
