well that's an assumption. they could of asked for 100k but the buyer said 25k and they took it. just because someone has deep pockets doesn't mean they are going to shell out anything for a domain.
 
Besides, I believe .net is fairly popular in Arab countries, in fact probably in Russia and Asia too.
