When chosing domain names what attention should be given to the search engine results. By this I mean, what worth is there in registering a domain name and pointing it at your actual site when the name is too long for a normal URL.

An example of this is to do an overture search for 'vacations'. The results show:
134380 lake tahoe vacation rental

How easy is it to then register the .com (which has gone by the way, deliberately) and get it at the top of search listings when the exact phrase is entered 134,380 times a month.

Basic question is how much weight do the words in a domain carry, assuming no meta tags or other optimisation?

And does it make it much easier to get to the top with a bit of work?

Say your search term is "woody woodpecker" All other factors being equal (content, oneway inbound links, meta, PR, age, etc. woodywoodpecker.XX or .XXX should come up 1st over most other names. However woody-woodpecker.XX or .XXX and woodywoodpeckers.XX or .XXX could be #1 as well.

Makes sense I know - need to know whether I should register a long name (4 words) and redirect to main site. The 4 words have very high OVT

Hey sharpy what's up? I was reading your response here and I was wondering... "oneway inbound links" refers to other sites and directories which refer you, right?

So other sites which you link to on your site (outbound) and non-oneway links are typically not as much a factor?

Not sure I get it. Can you please explain?
