G'day
Can you help me?
Please excuse my ignorance
Oh well here goes:

After selling the odd domain or two over the past 2 years, I have come to a decision that I would like to actually develop a DN with a site
Ok ,no point having secrets from you, whom i am asking to help.
The DN I wish to develop is Rockbands.org ( with Rockband.org forwarded to it.)
So I got these crazy ideas about what I want the web site to look like.
It seems to me that a php script and db is the way to go , because I have used them before and it sure seems a lot easier to administer than plain html.
Now of course being a bit on the uneducated side I got no idea how to create a script. I can barely even edit html.
So I thought I would pay someone to write a script
I have had a look at scriptlance.com
Here are my 3 questions
1. can you tell me of other sites like scriptlance.com that offer a similar thing?

2.Now just suppose I decide to go with Scriptlance.com
Can I get the 50% affilate commission on my own orders?

3. The most important question for me is: If I pay a programmer to write a script for me to use to run a web site, do I then own the script and can I then resell it?

Hi!
1.www.elance.com, www.rentacoder.com
2.NO
3.Depends on you.You can ask your programmer(s) to sign an NDA(non disclosure agreement) that won't let them resell or reuse your script.

Firstly, I'd be careful using places like that.. I've had bad experiences... I only use them for small jobs now.. either that or remember the saying "You get what you pay for" .. in other words, you'll get a lot of cheap offers but maybe they're cheap for a reason ;)

If you're really serious, I'd look for a programmer that comes recommended from someone else.

3. Depends.... I guess you would need to include this kinda thing in the details so they could work it into their price.

Good Luck!

I'm not exactly sure what you want to do, but why do you want to start from scratch? Why not use an existing CMS such as PHPNuke or, even better, Mambo? These are Opensource and free.
