Quick question about DNS

i just put up a site last night and it is getting some good traffic out of the gate.

I updated the dns last night - and right now the www.domain.com isn't working, but the domain.com is working - anything I need to do, or just wait for the DNS to propogate?

Add a cname for www in the forward lookup zone for that domain.

the domain unfortunately is at netsol - do i change the A record to the IP address of where I host the site?

if domain.com is working, then the A record should already be pointing to the right place. in order to get www.domain.com working, you need to add a cname, or an alias.

are you using bind? microsoft?

I'm not quite sure what i'm using ..:)

When i point my domains from Moniker to my e3servers hosting accounts this all works just fine. But this is at Netsol and I have no idea what is going on - i changed my dns but the www doesn't work.

really frustrating because i launched the site on a news story and had 8,000 visits yesterday - probably would have been twice that if www was working...

e3 servers uses cpanel (apache i guess) if that matters.

I would contact support at your hosting provider and ask them. I'm not sure what your control panel looks like and what kind of control you have.

yup, my host had some settings screwed up for this domain...all fixed soon.
