I'm unhappy to sell this site/community but my programmer let me down and I have not been in contact with him for about 3 months and I don't have the time to do this myself (or the energy to deal with a new programmer) so if an offer that is around 50% of what I spent on this site is made I will accept it and deal with a loss. (Not 50% of what I feel the site is worth, but the best offer above $700 will get it - check the live stats and read the summary below and contact me if you're interested and would like more info)
My partner and I spent a lot more than $1,450 on it. The initial purchase was $450, +$500 for the two designs and +$500 for the custom coding (which is not complete, but will be sold as is) and many, many hours (+40) of tweaking the back end and designing graphics myself.
Here are some details about the site:
. URL's: http://ratemysite.net (currently major error with the database) and the new version http://v2.ratemysite.net which is not complete.
. it is built on a content management system called PHP-Nuke http://phpnuke.org
. Live stats can be seen at the url below (note the HUGE drop from about 200,000 to 25,000 is because the site has not been usable for +3 months but it continues to receive nice traffic): http://www.ratemysite.net/community/modules.php?name=Statistics
. it is in #1 position in google for "rate my site" out of 5,800,000 returns!
. Members: +2,200 in less than 5 months with a site that isnââ¬â¢t even complete!!
. In v2.ratemysite.net there is a brand new forum ready to go: http://v2.ratemysite.net/modules.php?name=Forums
. There are lots of different modules and blocks (Survey, Who's Online etc that have been customized and new ones developed)
. what is very special about v2 is that users can submit their site along with a screen capture that will be automatically optimized, resized and added to their account and the database.
(on version 1, the admins added screen captures manually which took at least 30mins per day (which unfortunately you can't see at the moment, or the comment function, because of the database error, which I tried for hours to fix and could not and finally gave up)
. so the main purpose of developing v2 was to stream-line that process and to allow members to add more than 1 image, add a Remote Rating function (so members put a line of code on their site and when a user rates it, the score is tabled on RateMySite: you can see an example here: http://v2.ratemysite.net/modules.php?name=Rate_My_Site&r_op=outsideSitesetup&site_id=2
. the site is 80% (if not more) database driven and very fast!
. it is very customizable! You can add/delete/move up/down/left and right the blocks that appear on the left and right of the screen (part of Nuke). You can also change permissions on the blocks, select which ones should be visible to members/unregistered users/ you can add your own groups, ban users (block their IP) all this plus a lot more is managed from a browser based admin section within the site accessed via this url: http://ratemysite.net/community/admin.php here is a screen capture of what it looks like and the options available:
version 1 main admin shot: http://ratemysite.net/images/image001.png
version 2 main admin shit: http://ratemysite.net/images/image002.png
. we have 264 members subscribed to our newsletter, but you can also contact all 2,216 members if you wish. (members have their own control panel from which they can choose the "theme" of the site - there are two - : the one for v2 can be seen here: http://ratemysite.net/images/image003.png (or you can register and see it live)
. members have a profile they can update: http://ratemysite.net/images/image005.png
. they can send each other private messages: http://ratemysite.net/images/image004.png
. change the theme of the site
. be notified by email when a site they like receives a comment
. plus a lot more - To see what else there is and to see what needs to be done on the site (there are still bugs and a LOT of room for improvement, as you'll see) so check it out.
Two recommendations to the new owner:
. You should be strong in PHP/HTML and MySQL, or have a trusted coder who is.
. like people, because the members are very active and really great and helpful!
The site will be sold as is and the domain is included. So are the graphics etc, of course - what you see is what you get -
I can host it for $5 per month, but when it takes off, it may cost you up to $15 to $30/month (maybe more) and I would suggest you transfer it somewhere else.
If the site sells, I hope to a talented person who will take it to the next level (you could charge for membership etc - there is also a pre-installed Banner System that people can login to and check impressions, click throughs etc, but we didn't intend to use it so it's not active, but it is still there. As you can see, the site has SO much potential!
After Sale's Support:
I don't really have the time, but I will provide some support because the site may be quite overwhelming (it consists of over 1,000 files) to the new owner so I will offer 1 week to answer basic questions only, by e-mail.
Potential Buyers
Upon payment I will send all the necessary usernames/passwords etc, the ftp access details and see that the domain is transferred to you, then it's all yours and in your 100% control.
I will provide some email support for 1 week.
One month hosting is included, thereafter, I will charge $5/month until the site goes live and I suggest you move it off my shared server, or we could arrange a fair price if you want to keep it there (I won't make a profit from hosting it)
The site is sold as is, no guarantee as to functionality etc and the sale is final. You can test it as much as you like before and ask questions and make offers by email to ratemysite @ clicknow.to (or PM, for a slower response)
- - edit: just fixed some of the URL's, there were typos
