GSD - "German Shepherd Dog" - very common acronym for this in the dog world. German shepherds are also the most popular breed worldwide for companions, working, protection, and even police and military.
German Shepherds are also very close to the Dutch Shepherds, Belgian Shepherds (malinois, terveurns, laekenois, and groenendales).
