As a college student, I'm a little bit excited to get a check, that's some pretty good money to me in a time where I'm trying to conserve to save gas. For those of you elitists out there, send it to me if it's such an issue.

Seriously though, I do plan on saving a portion and investing the rest.

I'll resist getting into a long political tirade, but you guys who say that this is "Bush's check" better go back and take a class in American govern...well, nevermind, you don't even have to do that, just listen! Congress and the President passed this. As a conservative I am not a huge fan, but we all appreciate the extra money that will, in the very least, buy a few tanks of gas for us normal folks to get to work with.

I may even send $50 McCain's way.

Your right, tax rebate checks have nothing to do with an admin that wants you to believe they actually care about you the working class hero.
This as they short term ruin our economy, waste billions of tax payers money on a voluntary war while al qaeda not only gets away from attacking America but is also emboldened and made even stronger by that war. Or as they constantly talk out both sides of their big mouth about how they honor and support our troops while engaging in the policy of stop loss and short changing them on their needs when they return home wounded.

If your not capable of understanding how the two are related, I really don't know how to help you. Just keep salivating over your tiny tax rebate and cheerlead these losers as they fleece our country. Ignorance is bliss, until you wake up.

1. Not getting a rebate. However, my rebate-related domain, StimulusChecks-dot-com, is earning more than enough revenue to offset those missing funds.

2. I think anti-Bush screeds are off topic in this thread. Having said that, those of you who object to all the Bush-blaming probably didn't object to the similar Clinton-blaming in the '90s (and won't object to the Clinton- or Obama-blaming coming after the next election). Is this in any way being means tested? Or is it just everyone getting an extra $600?

If it's the latter, how is that NOT going to just make inflation worse?
It's effectively the same as printing more money
(see Weimar Republic and their financial woes), unless there's something to take that money back out of the economy as well.

From the government:

"Eligibility for the stimulus payment is subject to maximum income limits. The payment, including the basic amount and the amount for qualifying children, will be reduced by 5 percent of the amount of income in excess of $75,000 for individuals and $150,000 for those with a Married Filing Jointly filing status."

So it's a progressive refund - more money going to lower-income people.
