Received Good Offer, Need Advice

I have been approached by someone serious to buy one of my dot com names. I rejected low ball offers then he offered me low xx,xxx$ so I responded with very high xx,xxx$.

he never replied and then he went and bought the dot net for low x,xxx$
it seems he owns a small company and he was in bad need for it

what do you guys think ? shall I contact him again with lower offers ? or the sale is lost!

i received a nice offer on a name recently, which I countered for a few $,$$$ more

it's been almost a week and they still haven't replied


so, perhaps they will walk, perhaps they will counter or maybe bite at my price.

but I put the ball in their court.


so, i say:

if you want what you want, then you have to take chances to get it


sometimes you win, sometimes you have to wait for the next one.

Low $xx,xxx vs. high $xx,xxx there is a lots of space for negotiating in between.
But if the domain is a killer, let him come back byhimself, my opinion.

very simple imo. he thought he couldn't afford your .com and went for the less expensive .net.
but low xxxx for a .net is a lot unless it is a lll.net so he must've needed his domain asap or the name of his business makes a very good domain.

if he's short of cash he might not get back to you, (small business owners often are).
i'd not be content owning just the .net for my business but maybe that's good enough for him. good luck!

Perhaps and elegant way of suggesting you meet in the middle if he is still interested?

counter with low to mid xx,xxx and he should respond-- 13k-16k but don't sound like it's your last email.
he needs your domain. if you need the money and no one has ever offered you higher then sell for 10k if he'll go for it.

middle ground is the key. ask yourself: is it a domain so good that you want to keep.
