Btw, is .TV popular in Japan? I have seen many live .TV websites in Japanese, most are cool.

Actually, ULT (and BuyDomains) register domains some hours after deletion. For example, I could but didn't register "bathtub.org" or "spinach.org".

I don't think that .tv is so popular in Japan. I think, however, that most of Japanese people doesn't hesitate to use ccTLD, actually.
They prefer paying for $50 per year rather than paying $500 for one time and $10 per year. Does it make sense? I don't think so.

ClubDrop is an eNom service to catch deleted domains. It is much stronger (and expensive ) than SnapNames because the number of members is limited. I guess ULT, Buildable are ClubDrop members(Buildable got QU.com in March).
