Register.com Receives Acquisition Offer from RCM Acquisition Co. LLC

NEW YORK, Jun 13, 2005 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Register.com, Inc. (RCOM) today announced that on Friday, June 10, 2005, the Company received an acquisition proposal from RCM Acquisition Co. LLC to purchase the Company for $7.10 per share in cash.

The Company stated that the board will evaluate the offer in consultation with its legal counsel and its financial advisor, Credit Suisse First Boston.

RCM and certain related parties, including affiliates of Barington Capital Group, L.P. and Ramius Capital Group, LLC, are the beneficial owners of 3,614,902 shares of common stock of the Company, representing approximately 14.9% of the shares outstanding. James A. Mitarotonda, a member of Register.com's Board of Directors, is also Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Barington Capital Group, L.P.

LOL... Not only do I hate Register.com's prices, but I also hate how they pretend to be such a big company. Go Daddy, the largest domain registrar is a million times more modest. I hope Reg.com goes bankrupt.

Oh God, Kase don't get me started on GD and its illustrious bible-thumper prez....they were cancelling domain registrations they deemed "offensive" but they were eager to show off tits and ass on the Superbowl.

Yes, I find Go Daddy's success deeply disturbing. They are not the cheapest by a long chalk, their sites functionality is deeply compromised by excessive advertising and they show their lack of principles by bundling in unsolicited junk into your order, which you then have to deselect.

Well, I guess you have a point about Mr. Parsons, the President. However, they try to do their best to keep you safe on the net. I guess they don't really appeal to the "domain elites", but they certainly appeal to someone terrified of the internet . Point is, if you're well experienced, sure, a company like eNom would be better, but if you're a newbie, Go Daddy is good, regardless of their "add these items to your cart as well" games they play.

As for them cancelling domain names, they have only done that once or twice. The reason is simply because the sites displayed ILLEGAL material. I listen to Radio Go Daddy, and I continuously hear Mr. Parsons say that he WILL NOT cancel a domain name unless it is being used for illegal activies. That's one of the reasons SaveToby.com was not cancelled.

it seems they do...and terribly at that.
