I've been registering dropping domain names strictly for SEO purposes (for the existing backlinks pointing at the domains). I always make sure to do a quick search at uspto.gov to make sure there isn't a registered trademark in the domain. However, some of the names I see dropping are business names, names of organizations, band names, software titles, etc., and I don't know if it's a bad idea to register those domains even if they don't have a registered trademark.

I'll be posting articles on these domains that are completely unrelated to the domain name, with a link pointing to my website. Should I avoid registering any of the above names? Or do I not have to worry since I'll be posting content on the domains that are completely unrelated to the domain?
