Nominet distributes the 400,000 short Uk domains that have not been claimed by the owners of the equivalent co.uk domains.
The action starts on July 1st and ends on July 5th. Every day a batch is retrieved.
NOMINET member Secura also uses the resources of another registrar. It is "first come-first serve"
Secura GmbH does not take application fees. There are no premium domains and no auction.
A URL with the .uk domains to be granted does not exist. If a .uk domain is availabe according to Whois, it is either
a) immediately registrable
or
b) in one of the batches below
Batch 1: Domains beginning 0-9, a-b
Batch 2: Domains beginning c-f
Batch 3: Domains beginning g-m
Batch 4: Domains beginning n-s
Batch 5: Domains beginning t-z
