Is it possible to renew a domain (at least with NetSol), when it is in the following state?

"Domain not found locally, but Registry points back to local DB.
Local WHOIS DB must be out of date."

To illustrate, consider the following domain example (taken from DropWizard.com):

----

Domain Name: IYS.COM
Registrar: NETWORK SOLUTIONS, INC.
Whois Server: whois.networksolutions.com
Referral URL: http://www.networksolutions.com
Name Server: VLAN.VLAN.NET
Name Server: VLAN3.VLAN.NET
Updated Date: 18-aug-2002

Domain not found locally, but Registry points back to local DB.
Local WHOIS DB must be out of date.

----

Would it have been possible to renew IYS.COM on, let's say, August 20th?

Thanks,
David

Are you sure? What if you were to call NetSol?

I guess RacerX is right.

I just called NetSol's customer service, and they said that such a domain is in the process of being deleted, and therefore cannot be renewed.

It depends on your relationship with the registrar. I pulled one back recently when I missed the notice. Cost me an additional $35 but was cheap considering. Netsol is probably the least cooperative registrar for doing this. But it does happen frequently. I have seen them pulled back between the 6 am update and the actual drop.

In the eyes of Verisign (Network Solutions), we are all nobody ... Registrants are leaving there not simply because of price (they now charge $15 for transfer), but their customer service can't even match that of a much smaller company, sadly :-(

Is that $15 for a transfer-in to Netsol or a transfer-out of Netsol? Please give URL if possible. TIA
