Renting Domains

Why is it that renting domains does not seem to be very popular. Are there major drawbacks or obstacles to doing so? Additionally, which websites are ideal for renting out domain names.

One word, EDUCATION. Renting/leasing domains for a nominal price, came to mainstream only in the past few years. There was no options like lease-to-own a decade ago! And, one had to shell a lumpsome to buy the domain to secure their space. Educate clients to go assetless! Write a blog. Spread the good word. Hope that answers your question.,
