I know some of you here know me from the recent postings of REX.COM in the for sale forums. Tonight I have a different issue which I am in hopes some of you here might be able to help.

Tonight, while I was actually working on the site, my domain name REX.COM was stolen out of my godaddy account. Now it is shows in the whois someone named Andrea Spencer in Ohio.

Below is a copy of the message I was instructed by the Godaddy rep to send to Undo at Goddaddy.com

This blows my mind that this could even happen at all. I have already made contact with John Berryhill for reference as I did not know what else to do except work the the Godaddy rep for the moment.

So if any gets offered a great deal for REX.COM please realize it is not for sale and it is indeed stolen, and if anyone should know of a way or means to expedite help from Godaddy I would be forever grateful.

RE: REX.COM - Stolen Domain Name

Dear Sir or Madam,

As per my conversation tonight with your supervisor in customer service, Stephanie W., please review the following;

1. As of early this evening, 12/26, while working on the web site, my domain name REX.COM was transferred out of my account without my authorization. I received no emails or confirmations whatsoever regarding this, nor did I initiate this process. No one that I am aware of besides my wife has access to my account.

2. My password to my Godaddy account was also changed as well as my email, again which I did not initiate nor authorize. There still also seems to be a problem with the account sending email to my normal email address which I, nor Stephanie, was able to resolve.

Please Undo this transfer and place REX.COM back into my account asap as I have owned this domain name since June 12 1994 and did not authorize this transfer in any way shape or form.

I operate the REX.COM domain as a business entity and any down time is costing my company income.

Please contact me anytime at 845-807-7771 and let me know the status

Regards

Well this is easy to fix, the owner of DnForum also works for GoDaddy and can probably take care of your issue.

Contact him.

Best of luck,
AQ

In my opinion, with such high-value names, you should never access your godaddy account on a computer that you use to surf the net.

The keylogger/trojan guys always 1 step ahead of the antivirus companies. This is not a what was first egg or chicken question.

First comes the "hack" , later the patch :(

Joey,

Let wait for Godaddy and for the time being I suggest you not to post your personal information here (for your benefit).

Good luck!
John

I've been with Godaddy for years and have never had a problem. I am really hoping that they resolve this quickly. It'z bizarre to me that this kind of thing can happen, but I do have faith in Godaddy so far, just with they were a little faster with issues like these. I did send a message to DotComGod in hopes that maybe there was something he might be able to do to help expediate it.

Im' still not understanding how this could happen though, my web site is still there only attached to the ip. One minute Im editing and reviewing the site and 2 mins later its pointing to a godaddy parked page. I received no emails or confirmations or transfer requests or anything for the domain transfer or the email or password change.

Godaddy is very safe..they might steal it for a day or two but you will get it right back....same thing happened with Married.com which the owner got back without incident from Godaddy. They are great when it comes to issues like this.

Thanks Focus & Namebodega!

I just heard back from Undo at Godaddy, so they seem to be on the ball pretty quickly. The process seems to be pretty straightforward as to what they want to complete the mission. So far I gone from stressed to impressed with GD and still have my thumbs up for their customer service.

Same question here.

GD will get your name back, peace! keep us updated!

~~

No, I use either my personal domain account or my yahoo account

Ive sent what GD wanted so I anxiously await results. This pulled down a bunch of content we have on other websites that we hosted on the REX.com host, its a real drag.

I have faith in GD, will keep you updated.

It's hapening alot lately . I know .com names are easy to transfer and people like the easy transfer service but .co.uk is very safe i like it, i think they should have a more secure service for very valuable names like rex.com and other names worth big cash , I'm sorry to here about it but im sure you will get it back good luck .
