With respect to the RFPs, Caroline Greer with the mTLD states the following:

" We have been in negotiations with the applicants regarding their proposed business models and plans and have been engaged in contract discussions. The contract is a very important element of the RFP process as this is how we bind applicants to their content obligations. "

We will see a content-rich Weather.mobi that does not redirect.

I'm also confident we will see Weather.mobi be promoted on their PC site and thoughout the The Weather Channel broadcast.

I'm looking forward to learning who received Sports.mobi (perhaps ESPN?), News.mobi (SkyNews or the BBC?) and Ringtones.mobi (Warner Music?)

I imagine that they'll just transfer the from their current site (twc.mobi) to this one.
 
I can not see it any other way to be honest with you. Type in weather.com, where does it go.

Smart move and marketing on their part to also secure twc.mobi.

Someone want to mention protecting their brand? Here is an example...protection and utilization.

Smart business people making smart decisions.

Excellent news!! Very glad they won it! This is the reason I was saying The Weather Channel probably wasnt promoting TWC.mobi yet, because they were probably using it as their backup plan incase they werent awarded weather.mobi in RFP. It would be stupid to market and promote TWC.mobi and then a few months later change the name of your site to Weather.mobi and have to start from scratch. I am sure part of the RFP process in awarding the name is that the company has to use the name and promote it, otherwise a different company would be better off with the name. Cant wait to see what Weather Channel does now.

BTW Good news about the Weather.mobi! I am really convinced that they HAVE TO change the "go to weather.com on your mobile" announcement in "visit
weather.mobi"!
 
weather.com doesn't currently work on mTLD's emulator, however weather.mobi does.

I know age is just a number, but my daughter asked how old i am. I told her. She said' are you gonna die soon daddy?' ! :eek::lol:
It doesn't inspire confidence.

Anyway, when do you guys reckon the news.mobi etc ones will get 'issued' ?

well, twc have lost' the 'com' off their weather.mobi site
looks like they are promoting twc.mobi more
they have done some work on the site though
