i wouldn't part with rocketscience.com for less than 10k. it's one of those rare, catchy, brandable names thats good for a tech. or consulting company.
i think .net would be more for a personal site of sort. so appraisal would be ~$100-$300. i know that's a big swing between the .com and .net value. but i don't see people using .net.
