Not at all surprised. Seems like a fair valuation!

uhm......don't think so.

From: Verisign settles domain name lawsuit with Sex.com

Terms of the settlement were not disclosed. However, sources close to the agreement said it was in excess of $15 million.

VeriSign declined to comment on the settlement.

Kremen lost his rights to the Sex.com domain name in 1995, when a man named Stephen Cohen contacted Network Solutions and convinced the registrar to authorize transfer of the domain to himself. Cohen claimed in a letter that Kremen's company, "Online Classifieds," did not have an Internet connection and authorized the transfer of the domain name. Network Solutions transferred the domain without contacting Kremen or verifying the authenticity of the letter.

Cohen went on to make at least $40 million over the next few years, using the site, Kremen's attorneys said.

Article is referanced from last year.....

It sounds to be true.
Sex.com is a PPC business. Their traffic is mostly NOT from type-ins but from others running Sex.com feeds. I am surprised it sold for $15M myself.

Truthfly I don't think any domain is worth 15 million dollars lol, it's online property but I also think it is the most valuble domain name because I guarantee everyone atleast once in this world with a computer isnt mentally disabled typed in that domain name.

So? It only matters if the property is earning money - be it online or offline.

I must be mentally disabled then, or perhaps I just use search instead!

The sale of sex.com is still a rumour, but if it's true then the domain's sales
price is much too low, in my opinion. Sex.com is potentially worth high eight
or even low nine figures. It's one of the best (if not the best) domains on
the Internet and it can earn millions in a month. Anyway, we don't know any
details about the sale. It's also possible that the $15M was a one-time pay-
ment and the seller will get a share of the domain's income for the next years,
etc. I doubt anybody would sell this premium domain for only $15M. Hopefully
we will know more about this 'rumour' within the next hours or days.

Hehe. You're right, Dave. I found the mistake myself after I had it posted. The post should be correct now. Thanks anyways.

Joking apart, I think your right actually. In view of what Rent.com went for, the true value of this domain is probably pushing $100M.

Totally agree with you. Infact that kind of rubbish isn't worth $200. I, however, sold three Chinese IDN yesterday for $750 each.
