"The Minister of Oil and Minerals, H.E. Khaled Bahah, has announced the second successful discovery of oil by the Safer Exploration and Production Operations Company at Jabal Nuqum. An appraisal well drilled by SEPOC in November, to a depth of 4,347 feet, found 30 net feet of oil, and 19 feet of net gas in Alif Sand.
The well was tested at 1,175 stock tank barrels per day of oil. It is located within Marib block 18, and was actually discovered in 1988, but exploratory drilling done by the previous Block 18 operator was unsuccessful, and that companyâs efforts resulted in three dry wells. When SEPOC became the operator of Block 18 in November 2005, the company decided to have the entire Jabal Nuqum structure reassessed. Based on this reassessment, it was decided that appraisal wells should be drilledâwhich led to these new discoveries
