Just did some research as a protecting team for dnforum (kidding)

This guy had bought the script from jon (previous owner of gamescript) and he had said he will buy a lot of copies for a small $$$.

As you guys know with the script you do not get that many games.

I just found out from kazaa sources that he downloaded the other games from few sites and kazaa (from a illegal p2p network).

Then when the site got sold to John D , he still used to sell the full site without any $$$ to the owner.

And this has made him a profit of max 600 $ as he has sold many sites.

He is also known as Roundhost and can be found at talkfreelance.com as my research says.

He is gonna get banned @ Digitalpoint soon , just having talks with the moderators and i hope he gets banned from here.

I belive phpaudit.com solves that issue. more and more scripts are now becoming licensed, however there are still programmers who RIP the license and distribute the software, thats just because php code is open source, if it was abit like java and like the java .Class files encoded it would have been much much safer.

Umm...from the original programmer J0n I bought one of the very first licenses of the gamescript. My license states I can use for unlimited domains and installs. I think j0n's script is tainted since I know he sold a few copies like this. He later of course created a whole site to sell his script as well as change the license. You can actually see the thread at this site although it is rather old.

Here is my actual license. It's very flawed. It really only states I must give him notice (prior contact) before doing whatever I want. It doesn't say that I need his permission only that I contact him. Legally it's garbage what he originally passed off as a license.

You may alter this system in any way that you like, incorperate it within other scripts without any violation. You may also use the source on any number of websites, however, you must not re-distribute the source without prior contact, sell the source or parts of the source, or pass the code off as your own work.

I think this is j0ns fault for having a crappy license. As you pointed out what he wrote for my copy is very ambigious and wouldn't hold up in court. I sent j0n an email about this over 2 months ago. He never even bothered to respond. I know j0n is a good guy and I assume he learned from his mistake. I think the license and how gamescript is getting passed around is part of the reason he sold it off.

I have not sold a single site with gamescript YET but I feel that if I did I wouldn't be having any legal problems. Then again I don't like stepping on toes just to make a few bucks but that's just me.

I been considering totally taking apart his script and making it 10x better for a resale. However just building what he did from scratch shouldn't take more than a day so I see no reason to do it as a derivitive work.

I paid for my GamesScript when Jons license said i can do what i like, as labrocca already stated.

My site should still be allowed for sale, i am not scamming anyone.

i dont see why this is a scam. I have sold a site like this before though i had a designer make a new skin for it. John D also contacted me to verify i bought the script from him, and then it was fine.

From the DNF Forum protecting team , We have found out that this guy has been using only one license for many sites which is totaly illegal.

This information is confirmed.

I agree too, he tried to scam one of my associates as well, trying to sell her the same, illegal copy of the script. I appreciate John D coming forward and trying to help people who got ripped.
