I sold my site here a few months ago. It was a PC forum.

The member paid and they grabbed all the files for the site and the database. They had me point the nameservers to theirs, the site is working fine.

One thing is still pending though, and has been pending for a few months. The domain is still under my ownership. They never contacted me to transfer it to them! I e-mailed them and sent them PMs about it and never got a reply. It's been a couple of months since I last heard from them.

I am not sure what to do. Should I let the domain registration run out? I don't really feel good doing that knowing that I built it up to what it is now. HELP!

Future Reference.. Always wait for payment to clear before proceeding.

If I understand correctly, they paid but never initiated the transfer. They are probably little "messy", just email them they should transfer, I sometimes forget too, mostly when domain can not be tranfered at the time I bought it, than I ask for changing DNS and...nothing...

If it's about to register and a renewal is $7, I would pay it.

A little goodwill goes a long way and will probably be very appreciated by the buyer.

Create an account for them at the registrar and push the domain there. Once there log in and change the domain to their details. PM or email the user with the account name and password and tell them they are responsible for renewal.

what if i never hear from them again?

Once I sold a domain for $2,250

The buyer let it expire, two years later.

The domain remained available for 3 more years.

Last November, he re-registered it.

Conclusion: the human soul is an abyss :-D
