Where is the trafic coming from?

yeah, i would like to know that too. marketleap shows no links, alexa shows no links or traffic stats. How are 115 visitors per day hitting this url? Type ins? Doubt it.

I am guessing traffic is coming from websites that were used to be hosted on the address samehost.com (samehost.com/mywebsite kind of thing)... thats the only thing I could explain the steady traffic. I am not using anything to inflate the traffic and infact, the traffic has been like this for a while now... since the day of registration.

If the traffic is going mostly to htm pages located below the index page the index page would not be getting traffic, IMO it would seem to mean the traffic would be lost unless one knew the exact and complete url and was able to set up pages matching the subpages. Any way to get the names of all sub-pages which get traffic from the old site?

P.S. To webmaster members. Is there any other way to deal with this issue? I have some domains where the same issue is present and much traffic is lost due to it? An even worse issue is where traffic goes to sub-domains and the old sub-domain names are not known. Sorry if this is a bit off topic but I am interested in this name.

It still does redirect to the main page, samehost.com. I don't know the sub-pages.. it would help if anyone else could somehow find this out.

the problem with that idea is it can lead to a quicker decay of the traffic then having the pages served as it they are the page requested.

RealNames, create and place a 404.shtml page in your root directory and all 404 traffic will be redirected to that page.

I do this also, but like theparrot says, it will potentially irritate people.

So, if there's a particular few pages that I can identify that get a significant amount of traffic, I will create those pages and specifically target them. ;)

*of course, that isn't really an option if you're parking the domain for PPC income.. in that case, everything should get redirected to the main URL by the generic redirect.

Cheers,

Wesley

So is any1 interested in samehost.com? traffic is still the same...

I will sell for $1000 or highest offer.

is it generating any revenue?

yes, like $0.50 at domainhop/day or so...
Any1 who knows how to optimize the most out of a domain could get a lot more.
