I've had a few sizable offers on Savanna.com lately, so I thought i'd list it here also and explain the situation on the name.
I got this back in 1997 for some friends of mine when they named their first child Savanna. They had no idea what to do with it and figured we could just hold onto it for a long time until maybe she was old enough to use it for something herself.
Since then they've had another child and one one the way. Times have changed, so you can't just get the .com version of a first name anymore. They are worried that if they ever do end up using Savanna.com for something related to the child that the other two will be jealous.
They had considered developing the name for something else -- I suggested things like environmentalism, travel, things like that, or perhaps branding it for some other use -- but that has stalled. They did say that selling it and then taking the money they make to put into college funds for all the kids might be the best option.
This is one of those one word dot com names that can be developed for a variety of uses that everybody looks for, registered back when the .com craze was just on the horizon. Considering it's potential uses as a site with a female name (I've already turned down a few porn stars), a site dealing with one of its dictionary meanings, or the endless potential to brand this to just about any use, the value is quite high.
I've recently gotten offers just shy of breaking the five digit mark. If anyone wants to go into the five digit range, I'm open to discussing it. It's currently at Network Solutions (wow, crazy, huh?), expires in July of 2005 (and I can guarantee you we'll just keep renewing for years if it doesn't sell), and would require escrow through Escrow.com with the buyer paying the fees.
Please PM me with offers or questions. Thanks.
