You guys need to escalate or PM me threads in future, that way we can address them fast before they get buried.

Adam, Can mods issue a ban or is this something only you can do?

No offense to any noobs, but I have grown strongly suspicious of increased membership here and other domain forums in the past months.

There are concerns for "reverse scamming" where people are coming on asking for help with problems.

Someone comes onto a forum, usually a new sign up, and claims that they have been wronged. They ask (practically beg) for help in getting it resolved. Next thing you know you are being drawn deeper and deeper into the issue (all the while being the Good Samaritan) to the point that you are the one being scammed.

The person asking for help and relentless and frantic sounding and claims to have a lot at stake and risk of losing if someone does not help him (her) immediately. Then, of course, comes the need for money assistance until blah, blah, blah...

We just encountered a situation like this on mobility mobi.

lol i saw you mention this over there and i think you are way too paranoid.. the person over there wasnt asking for money even indirectly they were just naive and got scammed and frustrated/clueless about it... i really dont think most people are so nice that they wanna "help out" financially someone that is telling a story about being scammed... this tactic would not have a very high turnover rate. drink less coffee smoke more pot... or vice versa maybe. ;)

That's crazy.. I was going to register so I can see what to look out for but I don't own any .mobi's and figure when the time comes, I'll know.

Gotta be careful, I guess

If you are in doubt, don't use paypal.
Check TR although it's not perfect.

Seems to be the consensus of a great many on the forum.

Of course, anyone that invests in .mobi don't know what the hell they are doing anyways.

Because of the stupity, at least 38 of us gave $1.5K.

True.

Always someone unsuspecting or unknowing.

I am amazed at the number of local scams repeatedly broadcast on the local news and people still fall victim to the vultures.

I feel I must step in here. Adam, no regular members needed to "escalate or PM" you here when you banned member(s) for bringing up subjects you find sensitive. I can offer examples if you require them.

The mods here seem diligent banning posters when they (or you) feel the need to protect your reputation. When normal users (like me) are getting screwed by fraudsters, you or the mods aren't so diligent. No offense, just facts. Perhaps the mods should protect honest, paying customers here as aggressively as they protect you.

Yeah, I did see the neg rep, but he sent me the $900 in paypal after asked for Escrow, and it's tough to not take the cash on the table.

Now I need to do the following: convince paypal that transfer to godaddy usernumber and email consists of proof of shipping adress/tracking and acceptance by that individual equates to a signature of receipt. Hmmm, seems easy enough to me. Will Paypal budge, doubt it.

Mr. Dicker, if my GD acct rep MFear, cant help, can you? Changing Paypal seller protection service to include GD transfer for proof of shipping address would be one small step for man, ey?
