Scotland is pushing for .sco to be their own domain extension.

Anyone here from Scotland with any inside info or opinions ?

Be serious... who would want a .sco domain? I'm Scottish and have never heard of, or would never want one.

Thats why we have .co.uk domains! I think it's a silly idea!

Silly for people in England, yes. But I Thought Scotland had some national pride (remember Braveheart ???) and wanted to distinguish itself from 'mother' England. Plus, all the good .co.uk names are taken.
If I lived in Scotland, and owned, lets say...a Kilt company; I would Love to have the opportunity to own Kilts.sco since Kilts.co.uk is unavailable.
Also, to the rest of the world, it gives a Legitimacy to Scottish made products having a SCOTTISH extension not an English one....

Anyway, I'm building a site around the name that will promote the passage of this extension.

this domain has potential, but at the moment, its value is all speculative. No one can really guarantee Scotland is going to get its extension, can they? The value of this domain is reg fee in that case.

.co.uk is for the whole of the uk, not just england, this encompasses england, wales, scotland, and n ireland! I very much doubt scotland will get there own domain as then it will give rise to .co.eng, .co.wal .co.nir etc etc etc It would be very very stupid to give rise to these additional domains as it would de-value pretty much every ccTLD in existance as every state, sub country, man and his dog would want their very own domain!

It could happen. Look at Catalunya in Spain, they were granted their .cat extension although it is not widely used due to restrictions in use and content.
